I was introduced to AMC’s Mad Men by my husband — “Watch this show, you will like the decor..”. Of course he was right… I fell in love with the mid-century modern decor, drama, costumes, and actors. The incredible details in every scene took me back an era — a time period before I was even born. I could easily see a snapshot of an office at Madison Square, NY in the 60’s without a doubt. Kudos to the set directors — Amy Wells (seasons 1-3) and Claudette Didul (seasons 4-5) for creating this ambiance.
I’m seeing this style making a comeback… How about you? All you need to is to bring in the right amount of mid-century pieces so that you are still in this era but enjoying the decor from the 60’s. I think it is totally possible 🙂
I’ve a few links below on how the decor is being managed and the images courtesy of AMC studios.
Wow Mad Men! Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for the links! About 7 years ago I was a fanatic addict to MCM decor, so this is like stepping into the candy shop for me 🙂 Love the Saarinen marbled tables in the first pic!!!
Glad you enjoyed this page and happy to see you back 🙂
I love Mad men! Especially that Mr. Draper! Thanks so much for joining my linky last week!

Hi Kim, glad to you see your comment :)I love your blog! yes, this season of Mad Men is pretty interesting :/
I love Mad Men and have been watching from the beginning. Thanks for the links to the articles about the sets. They were very interesting. I love seeing how the sets have evolved from when the show started. They were much darker and moodier at the beginning and everything more drab. Now they are lighter and more joyful. It’s always fun when a new season starts to see how the sets have changed.
I agree with you – lighter and more sleek designs make it more interesting to watch. I’m quite addicted this show trying to guess what the mysterious Don Draper is up to!
Thanks for the great list, I’m always looking for more inspiration for my journey to being much better at interior design, thank you!
