Hotel Lobbies – Grand Entrances

Grand hotel entrances urge us to look high and low. We sometimes wonder how to take some of the eye-catching design elements of hotel lobbies back home. The extravagant scale can be hard to visualise in a smaller area, but, several design aspects and techniques used here can apply everywhere.

The lighting in well-designed hotel lobbies are typically unique and brings the space together. The same can be true for any room in the house.  And, there are a million ways to do this. You have to combine the right ceiling, task, and floor lightings to illuminate the space in a unique way.

The open floor plans bring higher visibility to the reception areas, cafe, lounge, etc., and this feature can be taken back home as well. The different functionalities of a room should be easily accessible – reading nooks, entertainment areas, dining, casual and formal seating, etc., should all be created in an open fashion and readily available to enjoy as needed. Closed rooms can hide some of the different purposes of the space.

The furniture, patterns, textures, fabric, wall colors, art, and all the accessories in the ones I’ve featured here have been carefully picked, co-ordinated and most likely are innovative. Similarly, in any room, harmony exists when things don’t clash with each other.

The architecture of these buildings does play a huge role in making them what they are. But, the rest can be applied to design a chic, grand, unique, and a beautiful home! Do you agree with me? Hope to have inspired you today!

  5. I love some of these I am big into architectural pieces I just love them. To me it makes a hotel lobby look fancy and futuristic at the same time. Definitely my type of lobby.

  6. SO many great designs – it’s really hard to pick from just one as my favorite 🙂

  7. The super modern look always leaves me cold. I’ve been to some beautiful lobbies in Morocco and India, usually for really high end hotels.

  8. I’m i love with the Hilton Pattaya that is just my favorite thing ever! I live in Orlando so we have Disney World and a ton of other hotels so we see so many interesting designs. But that specific wavey looking ceiling won me over.

  9. I’ve seen some pretty amazing hotel lobbies although I’m not sure if they’re as gorgeous as the ones you’ve pictured. I have often wondered how they come up with the ideas for the architecture – I guess that’s why the design is someone else’s job and not mine!

  10. I always love the modern clean feelings in hotel lobbies. Also, they always have the coolest lighting too. THese are some beautiful hotel lobbies you found. my favorite is the last photo with the blue lights!

  11. I love hotel lobbies because of the typically beautiful & grand architecture of their lobbies. The photos you rounded up are all gorgeous. My favorite is probably the one with the South Beach Miami hotel. Love it!
