Hello there! Just pause before you throw something away. There might be a way to repurpose an object that you have been holding on to and give it a new function. Maybe upcycle it to something even better.
Most of us are so used to associating an object with its original purpose that we don’t hesitate to get rid of it as soon as it stops doing what it is supposed to do. That’s why our junkyards are so full. According to World Research Bankers, our world generates at least 3.5 million tons of plastic and other solid waste a day. That’s 10 times the daily amount generated a century ago! These numbers make me want to repurpose, reuse, and upcycle as much as I can.
Aside from being able to make a more positive impact on our environment, I also find repurposed decor items more interesting when designing a space. Repurposing could be one way to cherish new memories by converting your favorite vinyl record players, musical instruments, and other old-fashioned items into eye-catching home decor. Transforming emptied wine bottles from a special occasion to stunning works of art is also something to think about. I still remember the days I used to insert floppy disks into my desktops to store my data files and push the heavy keys on a keyboard. I never imagined any of these to be of any use at all. I also wish I had salvaged and repurposed some of my audio cassettes, especially the colorful cassette boxes. It’s never too late to save a few pieces you don’t use anymore, and turn them into artwork that lasts!
Well, scroll down, and feel free to steal these ideas if you can!
