Continuing my series in Indoor Plants – This page is on Air purifying plants in office environments (via my collection from various advertisements and magazines)…Indoor office plants clean the air by removing toxins such as Benzene, Formaldehyde and TCE that are easily found in most work environments. Benzene is in inks, oils, paints and rubber. Exposure to benzene causes nausea, headaches, blurred vision, physical weakness. Formaldehyde is in foams and paper products and exposure to this irritates eyes, nose and throat. TCE is in paint, cleaning fluids and metal cleaners. These can cause heart and neurological problems. All these toxins unless treated cause the “Sick Building Syndrome”! Green plants apart from fighting “Sick Building Syndrome” have other advantages such us – controlling humidity within the building, adding moisture to the air, reducing noise and finally creating a relaxing environment suitable for working hard!
