I have never used a nut bag before, and to my surprise the whole process was easier than I imagined. I’ve used cheesecloth to make yogurt cheese, and it was hard to clean the cloth and it stained easily. In contrast to the cheesecloth, Victoos reusable nut bags come with a ton of features, that makes it totally stand out –
- It is very easy to use and clean. No noticeable stains.
- It is made with 150 micron food grade nylon and not made of cheesecloths. 150 microns is considered as high grade nylon, therefore, it will allow only liquids to strain through, leaving the solid particles in the bag.
- Just a light squeeze is only needed to get all the liquids out.
- It is BPA Free, therefore is safe to use.
- Seams are ultrasonic welded making it twice as strong as sewn seams, therefore it won’t rip easily.
To put this bag to test, I made an Indian sweet called as Shrikand made out of thick yogurt and my family enjoyed this dish. I lined the nut bag over a water pitcher, and carefully poured the yogurt into the bag. Solid particles stayed while the liquids dripped into my pitcher. I had to lightly squeeze the bag and press the yogurt with a spoon to get all the water out. Finally, used a spatula to get the thick yogurt out of the bag. After a quick rinse, bag looked as clean as before. To the thick yogurt cheese, I added a few stands of saffron, nuts and sugar and mixed it well – here are some pictures for you! I noticed that this bag works well only with greek yogurts, otherwise, you will end up with a lot of Kefir in the pitcher and less of yogurt cheese. This is another great addition to my kitchen and look forward to using this more. Hope you found this review useful.
